New Game Beta

I wanted to post at least one topic up on here about the beta, surprised no one else has. Now I don't wanna discuss any potential tourney rules at all yet cuz I know how it will go, so let's not bother until if/when they give us private matches, just thoughts so far.

Overall I am enjoying the beta for this game A LOT more than I did for DICE's last game. Just having classes is a real improvement I think. The party problems on PS4 are really annoying though (0 friends online in the in-game menu). I think this happened on the last game's beta too. Apparently it's not a problem on PC or Xbox One. IDK how they either don't test this stuff or don't think it's a big deal to have this being broken during the beta.

At first I thought heavy was the best class as they have the most health, a personal shield, and are still moderately mobile with a good gun. Then after about a day I realized specialist was the best because of Infiltration: Scrambler. It's basically an EE-4 that doesn't over heat, reveals everybody, and scrambles their radar. And you can keep using it as long as you are still getting kills. It is super strong to the point of basically being broken, but I think DICE already said they had plans to change it. No idea how they let that one slip. Jet trooper is really really fun to play for me. Dashing with short cooldowns on R1 and circle is really cool, you can just jump around everyone constantly and kill them all lol. It's too good though, so I think they will nerf some aspect of it, I think it's probably not okay to have high health, strong weapons, and the best mobility all on one class.

Space is a lot better in this game because you can actually roll your aircraft this time. They still had default flight controls on non-inverted though for some reason. I like that there are less AI and more objectives on the space map they have for the beta.

I'm only a little worried about the crate thing. I know a lot of people are flipping out about it on some sites, but I knew it was gonna be like this for awhile so maybe I am not as shocked. EA/DICE could make it anywhere from really terrible to "fine". I don't approve of non-cosmetic micro-transactions in $60 games, but I have such low standards / expectations from these companies after what they did last time that it isn't bothering me as much as it should probably. I think it won't really affect most of us who come here. Players that are looking to compete with clans on tournaments for the game will probably be playing the game so much that they will have what they need unlocked.

I'm surprised I don't see more of you guys playing the beta constantly, but I think I understand the reason for that now. I've played it a lot. I thought it was gonna be closed today but it's actually still up, and I am playing right now.

Depending on how much they nerf infiltration, I think it should not be allowed at all. Being able to show your team and self where everyone is around you makes it uncompetitive to me. Flanking is a huge part of strategy and that is taken away. The a280cfe is OP in itself and some think that should be banned but I think it's fine as long as infiltration is taken out. So far, infiltration and maybe disruption are the only things I can think of that need to be banned. The trait card "scrambler" may also need be banned?

I heard alot allot of complaining over many things, but I loved it!
The only 3 things I would like changed in the game itself are: inflitration- take away the scan pulse or ee4 (can't have both), make rolling able to combat roll (you can jump out of the roll), and credits earned should be based on how many points one scores that game.
I had fun playing it and got pretty good rather quickly with each class. All players from the BFC did so as well and I think there's going to be alot allot of new players joining so it should be fun!

If we do get private matches with the full game. I would like to see classes limited to 1 per team, 4vs4 only. For example, one person specialist, one person officer, etc.
Or Im sure we will see a lot of running around with the entire community running specialist with EE-4. Kind of like the EE-3 meta we got going on right now.


A complete ban on rocket troopers, heroes, vehicles and any other battle token purchased items would be ideal.
As well as a ban on scatter shot(assault), squad boost(officer), personal shield( heavy) and EE-4(specialist). I mean the community can try it with all star cards and everything allowed like we did last game. :|

Star Wars HQ on YouTube announced yesterday that the developers are working on fixing Strike game mode, buffing the officer class and nerfing the ee4. So that’s good news.

Damn well if they buff officer it will be the new op cause its already really strong if you know how to play the class. and at the moment 4v4 on strike (until fixed) should not be played in competitive games. 100 kills in a 4v4 is going to last forever. plus if the empire wants to be dicks and have a 100000 hour game they can pull the package and just hold onto it behind the castle and no rebels can get to you. strike just has to many flaws for a 4v4 competitive aspect. Also you cant really ban something you cant remove off your body in my opinion the shield, shotgun and ee4 cant be taken away unless by another star card plus the shotgun and shield arent that strong. the ee4 is alright but sense it shows you everything makes it op but no other starcard makes the ee4 go away (looking at beta starcards cause idk what is in real game) so they have to nerf it

I have also been enjoying the game but for weapons like the scatter shot for the assault shouldn’t be too much of a deal if only one person on a team gets it if you are talking to your team they should only get 1 or 2 kills with it. That is a lot but after a few times teams will have ways to beat it. I’m thinking there won’t need to be very many cards banned because not only will there only be one of each class but each class has a role so it probably won’t be one person running around killing a whole team. Especially if they nerf the infiltration. I’m guessing each class will have another to counter it with.
