PC SWBF2 Season 1 Rules

The BFC staff reserves the right to add, amend or remove any and all competition rules at any point during the season. The regular season will start May 21st, and end August 6th. The playoffs will begin immediately after. The trade deadline will be July 2nd. Playoff format TBD.

a. Server Rules

i. Server must be a paid-for (no downloaded servers).

ii. Team Damage set to On.

iii. Preferentially set Admin Messages Off.

iv. Waiting for Players Set to Off.

v. Awards on.

vi. 2 second spawn invincibility.

vii. Galactic Civil War Conquest/CTF maps only.

viii. Conquest timer set to 30 minutes, reinforcement limit set to 300 (200 in server manager).

ix. CTF timer set to 20 minutes, capture limit set to 3.

x. 30 host simulation rate.

xi. Max bandwidth.

xii. Warm-up timer to 60 seconds. The first map will be a buffer map, and once everyone joins, the map will restart.

xiii. Server must have Polis Massa spawn mod, Death Star reinforcement fix mod, Mustafar indestructible bridge mod, Hoth turrets disabled mod. Players must download Rhen Var and cannot refuse it.

xiv. Server must be located in Chicago or New York.

b. Prohibitions

i. Non CTF/Conquest game modes

ii. Any mods other than sniper reticle and field of view (including swap mod, map texture mods such as transparent textures or foliage removal, aimbot, full radar mod, class radar mod, mine SFX mod).

iii. Wall glitching (grenade spots are allowed)

iv. Detpack glitching

v. Infinite run

vi. Spawn-jumping the warm-up timer

vii. Swapping to another class (including engy to heal yourself)

viii. Swapping on CP light (to negate reload)

x. Specials (unless agreed upon)

xi. Clone Wars (unless agreed upon)

xii. Tanks

xiii. Turrets (auto-turrets are allowed)

xiv. Heroes

xv. AI

xvi. Glitching, hacking, cheating. If a player is suspected of cheating, the BFC staff will fully investigate with whatever means necessary. The BFC staff can check in between maps to investigate a possible cheater. Any player caught cheating will be permanently suspended for the rest of the season, and previous matches involving the cheater will be nullified and standings will be adjusted accordingly. Players under investigation must upload video evidence of the match from their POV.

xvii. Every past Pandemic SWBF2 cheater must record or stream their point of view of every full map on Twitch, and enable past broadcasts.

xviii. Lag-running with the flag.

c. Gameplay Situation Rules

i. In the case that a CTF map ties, the battle moves on to the next map. If the rest of the battle is played out and the score remains tied at 2-2-1 (or the CTF map was the 5th map), a 6th map is chosen in continuing alternating fashion (whoever picked map 4, picks map 6). Additionally, clans may agree to settle the tied map by playing it again as no timer first to 1 sudden death. This applies even if the CTF map that tied was not 5th map in a best of 5 battle.

ii. Minimum size for a battle is 3v3, preferable is 4v4. If your clan has 4 members available - they must make it a 4v4. Any higher than a 4v4 is optional, even if it is planned as higher than a 4v4, the default is 4v4. There must be at least one of each non-special class, and in the event of a 5v5 or higher, the doubled up class(es) (or special(s)) and their flexibility must be specified beforehand.

iii. If at any point someone lags out, only the player that lagged out may come back during the map. Both sides play on unless it is before the first spawn of the map, requiring a replayed map (you should immediately notify the enemy team about this). If a player drops mid match (after a map ends) and no replacement can be found, the team that did NOT lose the player chooses which class to drop. Even if the battle is a 5v5, 2 snipers, the clan that still has 5 members can choose to drop the engineer, grunt, or rocket if they prefer and keep the 2 snipers. You can only sub in players in-between maps.

iv. Room should be provided for one spectator (or two, if they are commentating together) who can stream the match if desired. This spectator cannot be refused. One player in the match must stream the battle to prevent disputes and for time-dependent statistics.

v. If a team is unable to field enough players for a battle, they may ask the opposing team if they will allow a ringer. Maximum amount of 1 ringer per team. Once a team agrees to allow a ringer, they specify what class they cannot play. There is no ringing allowed in the playoffs.

vi. If a player leaves before the stat screen, his score will be recorded in that stat sheet as 0-0-10 for that map. If a player repeatedly leaves before the end screen, a stiffer punishment may be issued. This is up to the discretion of the statistician.

vii. Space-walking on Polis Massa is currently allowed.

viii. Teams can make gentleman's agreements for pretty much anything. Check with a BFC staff member to confirm per instance.

vix. If there is a European player in the match, the match must be played in a New York server if available.

d. Player Movement

i. If a player willingly leaves a clan, they cannot participate in battles for 7 days.

ii. Players cannot be traded or join different teams past the deadline. If traded, players must agree to play with that team until at least the deadline.

iii. Players who haven’t played in a battle during the season can join any clan at any time. If a player is cut by a team after the deadline, they can join whichever team they want.

iv. Players cannot leave playoff ineligible teams for playoff eligible teams unless a valid reason is given ("they suck" is not valid). The validity will be determined by the staff. The staff may institute a longer penalty.

v. Teams with all new players can sign up whenever they want. Teams with players who have already played in a match this season must sign up by the trade deadline.

vi. Rosters lock for playoffs.

e. Point System

i. +1 for win

ii. -2 for loss

iii. +1 for every map won

iv. -3 for refusal to play/forfeit (subject to suspension from ladder)

v. +x (variable points based on conditions of forfeit) for 'winner' of a forfeit

f. Clan Challenging

i. Clans may not play the same clan again more than 2 times in a row.

ii. Maximum 1 CTF map chosen per team; teams can choose only Conquest maps if they wish.

iii. If a clan has a long outstanding challenge with another clan, they must play that clan as soon as they are available to play rather than playing other opponents. If a clan does have the members available to play, and then chooses to play other opponents, this is considered an act of battle dodging. If this act of dodging occurs 3 times against the same team, the clan will incur -3 points from a forfeit. Subsequent acts of dodging will result in the penalty being doubled to -6 points, -12 points and so on.

iv. Clans should not attempt to game the system by purposefully playing matches against only specific opponents or even intentionally throwing individual maps or whole battles.

v. Winning team must report matches through the site with screenshots of each map’s results screen. Players must not have a name that is so long it covers their score.

vi. In the event that a match can’t be finished, teams must reschedule to finish the match another time rather than request a forfeit. Completing the match is prioritized over other matches.

vii. Challenge Format:

Map 1 (Clan A) -> Faction 1 (Clan B) ->
Map 2 (Clan B) -> Faction 2 (Clan A) ->
Map 3 (Clan A) -> Faction 3 (Clan B) ->
Map 4 (Clan B) -> Faction 4 (Clan A) ->
Map 5 (Clan A) -> Faction 5 (Clan B)

Maps and factions are picked one at a time. The challenging clan determines whether they are Clan A or Clan B. The winner is the team that wins 3 maps first.

viii. When faced with a challenge from multiple teams at once, clans should battle the team they have faced less often first.

ix. In the event of NA vs EU, EU always gets the choice of 3 maps or 3 factions.

x. If two teams play against each other again, the team who had 3 map choices in the previous battle now gets 2. These teams continue to alternate who gets 3 map choices throughout the season.

g. Map Pool

i. CTF
• Coruscant
• Death Star
• Jabba’s Palace
• Mos Eisley
• Mustafar
• Tantive IV
• Utapau
• Hoth

ii. Conquest

h. Playoffs

ii. Tie Breakers

i. Head-to-Head Record

ii. Win %

iii. Map Win %

iv. Play-in Game

iii. Tie Breakers (3-way+)

i. Win %

ii. Map Win %

iii. Play-in Game(s)

I think snipers should deal without reticule. This ain't ps2 and those rifles don't fire slow.

We actually allowed it for multiple reasons.

1. We have a entire team playing with controllers which puts them at a slight disadvantage already, yes you could say "just play mouse and keyboard" but I'm not going to do that, they've practiced years with controllers and if they're set on doing it then go for it at this stage of the game it's best to embrace as many players as possible.

2. It's actually impossible to detect, the only version that is detectable is the file I uploaded and provided. You can do a multiple of alternatives such as putting tape on your screen, having a program that provides a crosshair on your screen or even owning a monitor that has a undetectable crosshair overlay built into it such as the picture below so if people wanted to they could use it and easily get by with it and there's nothing we can do.

3. It's not even that big of an issue, we don't find it to be game breaking and if anything most older players hate the reticule for various reasons as do I mainly because I get confused when swapping between sniper & pistol and lose track of what was my last gun.

I've received several questions on the exact process for challenging other clans to BFC matches. You can look at any of the match topics for PS2 as an example.

Once you and another team decide to play, the challenger picks map 1, challenged team picks faction 1 and map 2, and continue alternating until 5 maps and 5 factions total have been picked. The server is set up according to the rules, and the battle concludes once a team wins 3 maps. Afterwards, the winning team posts a topic in either of the team's subforums with a list of maps, factions, the result, who played what class, and a link to the vod. The winning team must also report the match ("Tournament (PC)" at the top bar), specifying who won by what score, a link to a screenshot of each end of map's stats, and the duration of each map (this is all self-explanatory in the form).

If two teams play against each other again, the team who had 3 map choices in the previous battle now gets 2, unless the other team forgoes. These teams continue to alternate who gets the option to choose 3 maps throughout the season. Example:

PS2 vs TSOF 1:

PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction

PS2 vs TSOF 2:

TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction

PS2 vs TSOF 3:

PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction
TSOF map - PS2 faction
PS2 map - TSOF faction

etc.

7 battles played are required to qualify for the playoffs. The top 6 teams advance. The playoff format is as follows:

Single Elimination. Winner advances to the next round

FIRST ROUND
Seeds 1 and 2 have byes
Seed 3 plays Seed 6
Seed 4 plays Seed 5

SECOND ROUND
Seed 1 plays the lowest winning seed. Seed 2 plays the highest winning seed

THIRD ROUND
The winners of the second round play for the championship in a best of 7 maps
